NEW FINANCIAL PORTAL

When David was sworn into office, the Financial Portal used by Local 720 was inadequate and causing problems with the Local's core financial files. A swift search for solutions to this growing issue began. Questions arose regarding the accounting software and its connected financial portal, and potential solutions were investigated with input from accountants. David also consulted with other Locals about their implemented solutions. This extensive process led to a recommendation that was subsequently approved by the Executive Board and the Membership of Local 720.

The transition to new financial portal software necessitated custom programming to enable the finance system to communicate with Local 720's Dispatch System. The benefits of this new system are progressively emerging as the custom programming is completed. A key lesson learned during this process is that programming can often require more time than software programmers initially estimate. This can become particularly complex when coordinating two companies programming two distinct software solutions that need to function together seamlessly.

Despite these challenges, the new system is on track to achieve all its originally proposed goals and is expected to come in under budget for the transition.
