MEET DAVID

David brings over three decades of experience as a dedicated stagehand, with more than twenty-six years as a proud union member. Explore the sections below to learn more about his extensive contributions.

UNION

David's commitment to the union is evident in his recent role as Corresponding Secretary-Treasurer for Local 720, a position he has held since 2023. In this capacity, he has represented Local 720 as a Convention Delegate and at General Executive Board meetings. He has also served the membership as a delegate to the AFL-CIO and the CLC, and as a Trustee on the Local 720 Training Trust. Furthermore, David contributed to the Large Local Training Sub-Committee, representing Local 720's interests.

His journey with the IATSE began in February 1999 when he joined Local 190 in Wichita, Kansas. There, he served as a Steward and Convention Delegate. Between tours, David dedicated his time to Local 190 as the Recording Secretary, playing a crucial role in resolving internal challenges.

During his touring career, David actively supported union efforts and members. He served as the Steward for two tours, which fostered frequent interaction with the Stagecraft Office in New York City. These experiences helped him build strong working relationships with officers from various IA Locals, numerous Special Representatives, and members of the International Alliance's General Executive Board. Touring provided invaluable lessons on how unions can effectively serve their members.

Since relocating to Las Vegas, David has been a dedicated volunteer for Local 720. He served on the Election Committee, ultimately stepping into the role of Committee Chair at the request of the other members of the committee. Prior to his election to office, David proudly served Local 720's members as a steward. When the pandemic halted the industry, he transformed his garage into a vital supply depot for the Mask Posse efforts. When the Food Bank Committee sought volunteers, David was among the first to sign up, quickly taking on the role of Warehouse Coordinator by the end of his first day.

PROFESSIONAL

David's career began with bounce calls for IATSE Local 190 and work in the scene shop for Music Theatre of Wichita, a summer stock theater company. After college, he embarked on tours with Broadway productions as an A2, gaining extensive experience while traveling across the United States and Canada and collaborating with professionals at each tour stop.

In Las Vegas, David has regularly worked general sessions and other large meetings as an A2 and Systems Tech. He has collaborated closely with sound specialists and A1s to ensure that pull lists are comprehensive, facilitating efficient show load-ins and smooth operations. David's expertise also extends to working as an AV Tech, projectionist, and rigger at various properties, with frequent engagements at the Bellagio and the Sands.
