EXPANDED JURISDICTION

During David’s first few days in office, he found a map that proved to be very interesting. The letter attached to the map seemed to show that an agreement had been reached some time ago, giving Local 720 jurisdiction outside of southern Nevada. David discussed these items with the other officers, and no one had seen the agreement as it had been hidden away.

David wrote to the International, asking them to verify the map and the agreement. They were validated after representatives dug through the archives to review older records of the IATSE. It was agreed that Local 720 has geographical jurisdiction in Southwestern Utah, Northwestern Utah, and a part of adjoining California. This is what brought the workers who organized Tuacahn Center for the Arts into Local 720, as well as a new contract and employer. This means that Local 720 has jurisdiction over Kevin Costner’s TV and film production studio being built in St. George, Utah, as well as in Bullhead City, where Arizona State Senator Borrelli plans to work with a developer to bring production facilities.

The results of this work can be seen in the map that is now displayed in the Local 720 meeting hall. Here, all Local 720 members can see the four states where our current contracts can be enforced, and also where film production, AV jobs, convention spaces, and theaters can be organized, bringing employment to Local 720 members.
